cycle-list -- A list for talking about bicycling

About cycle-list
English (USA)

A lot of us like to bicycle together, and coordinating rides can be a challenge. Coordinating rides for a club can requires someone to manage a mailing list, produce an announcement and get it out to that mailing list well before the ride.

There is an easier way. It's called mailing list software. You could think of this type of mailing list as a reflector. Any email you send to the cycle-list at linuxgeek dot net is "reflected" out to the subscribers of the cycle-list. Mailing lists, like this usually revolve around a specific interest. The cycle-list is about bicycling in San Diego county.

We, bicyclists can talk about our interest. We can talk about the latest bicycle gizmo we got, what cool thing we saw in some bicycle shop, the cool new jersey, we just bought, anything bicycle related. Perhaps you found a cool web site about bicycling, the cycle-list would be a great place to share. If you participated in an organized event, club ride or other bicycle ride and want to talk about it the cycle-list is a great place.

You can use this list to announce an upcoming organized ride, in which you plan to participate. Use the cycle-list to solicit ride shares to and from rides. I invited the Recyclers to join the list, to coordinate their weekly rides. If you want to organize a ride, create an email with the details of the ride course. Perhaps create a route slip on, and reference it in the email. Include some information about the difficulty of the ride, and where to meet up. After you have composed that email send it to cycle-list at linuxgeek dot net. Maybe you'll meet someone new to ride with!

I hope you find this list useful.

If you have never subscribed to a mailing list before, here's a brief description of how it works:

After you have subscribed to the cycle-list at linuxgeek dot net, any messages sent to the cycle-list, get sent to everyone else subscribed to the cycle-list. So instead of keeping a list in your own address book, you can depend upon the cycle-list, to get messages to everyone on the list.

Individual subscribers can manage their own e-mail addresses. So you don't have to send an email to everyone on the cycle-list, to let them know about your change of address. Just come back here, sign in below and make changes to your subscription information.

Similar information will be contained in the confirmation e-mail, when your subscription is approved. Once a month the list software will send you out an automated message, telling you that you are subscribed and how to manage your information on the cycle-list.

I'm keeping the archives private, and not allowing automated subscriptions, to keep this list from becoming a gold mine for spammers.

Let's all ride more!
