Mankind has invested more than four million years of evolution in the attempt to avoid physical exertion. Now a group of backward-thinking atavists mounted on foot-powered pairs of Hula-Hoops would have us pumping our legs, gritting our teeth, and searing our lungs as though we were being chased across the Pleistocene savanna by saber-toothed tigers. Think of the hopes, the dreams, the effort, the brilliance, the pure force of will that, over the eons, has gone into the creation of the Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Bicycle riders would have us throw all this on the ash heap of history. ~P.J. O'Rourke

First Annual Recyclers' Picnic and Ride

We have a very special event and ride scheduled for June 10th 2007, our first annual Recyclers' Bicycle Club Picnic. The ride this day will start and finish at our picnic spot, at Hospitality Point on Mission Bay. Neil has planned a new fun ride for us on this day. The picnic spot is kid friendly, so please invite family and friends to join us. Some of you may even want to join us for the ride. Watch this web site and your email for more information, but mark the date on your calendars. It will be a pot-luck affair, so plan to bring a dish to share. A BBQ will be provided for those who want to Barbeque and there will be ice chests to keep drinks and meats cold while we ride. Bring your picnic equipment (games, chairs, etc) with you. This event is open to all who want to attend whether you ride or not.

How to reach Hospitality Point from Interstate 8

Turn right (north) at the West Mission Bay Drive exit off I-8 West. After crossing under SeaWorld Drive you will cross under another bridge. You need to be on the far right to take the clover leaf turn to West Mission Bay Drive. If you get to the stop light you missed the turn and you've gone too far North. Make a left at Quivira Road, then another quck left. you are now going east on Quivira Road. Follow that around. It makes a big loop and becomes Quivira Blvd or Quivira Way Depending upon which map you consult. At the end of the road is Hospitality Point.
